Capt. Shim and his Crew welcome you

Capt. Craig Shimokusu has been fishing the Bay Area for over 25 years. His passion for fishing was fueled at an early age, where he couldn't wait to go salmon fishing with his dad. In the last 15 years, he has worked in Emeryville, working the deck of the Salmon Queen 3 as well as his current boat. Those years were not only spent working the boat, but he was often found running his black SeaCraft as far as 70 miles offshore, fishing every chance he had. On average, he would run his boat over 1000 hours, along with working the boat. He knew that he would one day run a charter boat, and he wanted as much experience fishing for everything our coast had to offer.

Capt. Shim received his 100 ton license in 2002, in that same year he began running the New Salmon Queen on a part time basis. When the albacore bite really took off that Fall, he began operating the boat on a full time basis. Rarely will a new licensee get an opportunity to run a boat so soon, but it was obvious, that he was more than ready to take that on. A year and a half after getting his license, he took the opportunity, and purchased the New Salmon Queen. His first year of ownership was not going to be easy, for he had to train a new deckhand, however after spending many months molding him, he was able to find someone that is eager at working hard for the customers.....

Chris Fox has worked the boat for two full seasons, and in that time, he has seen more variety than most deckhands with three times the experience. Because of the diversity we have on the boat, he is knowledgeable about all we fish for, giving seminars on fishing techniques each morning, as well as working hard all day, helping everyone have an enjoyable experience on the boat. He is very personable, and very enthusiastic about our industry, you won't find a harder working deckhand in the fleet.
